Stockton Men’s Sheds

Sheds contribute to the wider community scene too and that can include children and young people. It happened in Whitby district and could be on the cards for Stockton too working in partnership.

How it works

Stockton Men’s Shed (for men and women) will be wholly volunteer run. The volunteers are effectively the Shedders who attend. Some are givers, some are takers but most combine both! Very few, if any, are only takers.

For example, dementia steals a lot from individuals and their families but such Shedders make a strong contribution to the Shed being a “complete family”.

Sheds help knit a community, with impacts rippling in all directions. By helping the community practically – restoring a bench or making equipment for a school – the knitting grows.

Sheds are amazing in the hope they offer people, building renewed self respect – amidst inclusive banter! The evidence of changing lives is what nourishes a Shed and is the real value far exceeding the creative distraction of making.
